I once knew this man.
He had a million pockets.
Everytime we went somewhere, he would produce something someone needed.
It never mattered what.
He just always seemed to have it.
A piece of string.
A song lyric.
A candy cane.
A leaf in the shape of a rhinoceros.
I was so jealous when he produced that last one.
It was something I had always craved.
But could never find the words to say.
You only had to ask.
He said a little sadly when he saw my watery eyes.
But I didn’t know it was what I wanted,
I hitched back.
Until I saw you give it away.
